Maintaining balayage: Which toning shampoo is right for your hair?

  • 4 min reading time
Balayage onderhouden: welke toning shampoo past bij jouw haar?

A beautiful balayage creates a soft transition between your natural hair color and lighter lengths. But between salon visits, highlights can become warmer, look less fresh or lose their cool tone.

With MUVO Balayage Shampoo, you can refresh and tone your balayage and highlights between appointments. There are two variants: Balayage For Blondes and Balayage For Brunettes.

Which one you need depends mainly on your base color and the color of your lighter lengths.

Quick guide

Light to medium blonde base + light blonde lengths → Balayage For Blondes

Medium to dark brown base + medium to dark blonde lengths → Balayage For Brunettes

Why use a special shampoo for balayage?

Balayage hair has different color depths. For example, the roots may be darker, while the lengths and highlights are much lighter.

That means a regular color shampoo is not always the most obvious choice. MUVO Balayage Shampoo is designed to refresh the different tones in balayage and highlights and help them blend beautifully.

Pay particular attention to your starting color
Look beyond your highlights. The combination of your base color and the color of your ends determines which Balayage Shampoo is the best fit.

Balayage Shampoo For Blondes

Do you have a light to medium blonde base with light blonde ends or highlights? Then MUVO Balayage Shampoo For Blondes is the best fit for your balayage.

This variant helps refresh light balayage and highlights and soften unwanted warm tones.

This variant is designed to refresh brunette balayage and soften warm, coppery tones in the lighter sections.

How often should you use Balayage Shampoo?

To maintain your color, you can use MUVO Balayage Shampoo about once a week or every second wash.

So you don't need to use the shampoo every time you wash your hair. Pay attention to your hair color: as soon as your balayage starts to look warmer or less fresh, you can use the toning shampoo again.

Tip: always start with a short processing time. Lighter and porous sections in particular can absorb pigment more quickly. You can always gradually increase the intensity the next time you wash your hair.

Keep your balayage looking beautiful between salon visits

Balayage is relatively low-maintenance, but the lighter sections can become warmer or look less fresh over time.

By choosing a toning shampoo that suits both your base color and your lighter lengths, you can easily maintain your color between salon visits.
