Which hairdressing foil do you need? How to choose the right Foil Me foil
- 12 min reading time
Anyone who colors hair daily knows how much of a difference good foil can make. It’s not just the quality of the foil that counts, but also the size. Do you work primarily with classic highlights, balayage, or longer hair lengths? And do you prefer to take your foils out of a dispenser one by one, or do you prefer working with a flat-pack?
The Foil Me Silver Collection consists of professional, pre-cut hair foils in various sizes. This allows you to choose the foil that suits the hair length, coloring technique, and your own way of working.

Why choose pre-cut hair foil?
During a color treatment, you want to focus on the hair. Measuring, tearing off, and preparing aluminum foil yourself takes time and interrupts your workflow.
The foils in the Foil Me Silver Collection are therefore already cut to size. The pop-up versions come in a sturdy tissue box, so you can easily grab the foils one by one. In addition, Foil Me foil has a characteristic embossing for extra grip on the hair, and the foil composition has been developed to make the hair stylist's work more pleasant and efficient.
But which size fits your work best?
The Original: for classic highlights and medium-length hair
Foil Me The Original measures 12.5 x 27 cm and contains 500 pre-cut foil sheets. This compact size is ideal for medium-length hair and for color techniques where you want to work with precision and control.
Because of the narrower width, you won't have unnecessary excess foil around your section. That makes The Original a logical choice for daily color treatments and classic highlights.
Choose The Original if: you work a lot with medium-length hair, do traditional highlights, and like to use a compact foil size.
The Wide: the versatile all-rounder
Are you unsure which size you will use most often? Then Foil Me The Wide is a strong all-round choice.
At 15 x 27 cm, The Wide is wider than The Original and provides more working surface. The pack contains 500 pre-cut sheets. According to Foil Me, this is the most popular size, and it is suitable for balayage, hair painting, and traditional foil techniques.
That extra width makes it easier to place wider sections without having to switch to an extra-long or extra-wide foil immediately.
Choose The Wide if: you are looking for one versatile hair foil for various color techniques and hair lengths.
The Long-Wide: extra length for long hair and balayage
Do you work a lot with longer hair? Then a standard sheet can simply be too short. Foil Me The Long-Wide maintains the practical width of 15 cm but extends the sheet to 35 cm.
The pack contains 250 pre-cut sheets. The extra-long format gives you more space to place longer hair sections on one sheet and is therefore particularly suitable for long hair, balayage, and hair painting.
Choose The Long-Wide if: you regularly work with long hair and primarily need extra length, without switching to a wider foil.
The Extra Wide: maximum space for long hair
Sometimes you need not only more length, but also more width. That’s why there is Foil Me The Extra Wide.
At 20 x 40 cm, this is the largest size in the Silver Collection. One pack contains 200 pre-cut sheets. The combination of extra length and width provides plenty of working surface for long hair, balayage, and larger sections.
This can be especially helpful when you want to fully support a long hair length without having to use multiple smaller foils.
Choose The Extra Wide if: you work a lot with long hair, wider sections, or color techniques where you need a generous working surface.
Flatter Me Wide: flat-pack with a pre-folded edge
Not every stylist prefers to work with pop-up foil. Foil Me Flatter Me Wide has the same 15 x 27 cm size as The Wide, but is supplied as flat, pre-cut foil in a flat-lay packaging.
The 500 sheets have a pre-folded edge of 2 cm. This allows you to take the foil flat out of the packaging and immediately use the already applied fold. This foil is especially suitable for traditional foil techniques.
Choose Flatter Me Wide if: you prefer flat-pack foil and like to work with a pre-folded edge.
Pop-up foil or flat-pack foil?
The difference lies mainly in how you like to work. With The Original, The Wide, The Long-Wide, and The Extra Wide, you grab the pre-cut foils one by one from a tissue box. Flatter Me Wide, on the other hand, lies flat in the packaging and already has a 2 cm fold.
Do you like to work quickly from a dispenser? Then pop-up foil is the obvious choice. Do you prefer to grab the foil flat and immediately use a pre-folded edge? Then Flatter Me Wide probably fits your workflow better.
Which Foil Me foil size do I need?
Start with your technique: don't just look at the hair length, but also at the amount of working surface you find comfortable while coloring. A larger sheet isn't automatically better; the right size is the size that allows you to work accurately and efficiently.
Which Foil Me foil is best for balayage?
For balayage, The Wide, The Long-Wide, and The Extra Wide are particularly interesting.
The Wide is the most versatile choice when working with various hair lengths. If you especially need extra length, The Long-Wide gives you 35 cm of working space. For very long hair or when you like to work with larger sections, The Extra Wide, at 20 x 40 cm, offers the most space.
Your choice is therefore mainly determined by the length of the hair and the size of the sections you prefer to work with.
What makes Foil Me foil different?
The characteristic embossing was developed for better grip on the hair while working.
The foils are pre-cut, so you don't have to measure and tear them yourself during the treatment.
The foil composition and packaging have been developed to allow you to work pleasantly and efficiently.
Foil Me states that the foil is 100% recyclable and is partly manufactured from recycled aluminum.
The right foil makes your workflow easier
The Original, The Wide, The Long-Wide, and The Extra Wide are not simply different sizes of the same product. The difference in size is exactly what determines how well a foil works for a particular treatment.
For classic highlights and medium-length hair, The Original is a logical choice. If you want one all-round size, then The Wide is the most versatile option. For longer hair, you can choose The Long-Wide or The Extra Wide, depending on how much length and width you need. If you prefer to work from a flat-pack with a pre-folded edge, there is Flatter Me Wide.
This way, you aren't just choosing hair foil, but the foil that fits the way you color.
